Crimson Skies Fan Art: Fairchild F611 Brigand

FASA & Microsoft's "Crimson Skies" has for decades been a mild obsession of mine, fitting perfectly in with my love of zeppelins, pulp stories, alternate histories, and 1930s noir. As I've improved my art and 3D skills as a hobbyist, I've always had my eye on re-imagining some of the game's iconic aircraft and artwork. I call these efforts "The Aerodex," and after many years of "when I get around to it," I've finally finished some art featuring the F611 Brigand, probably one of the game's two most identifiable planes (the other being the Devastator).

Although I wanted to create some pretty aircraft renders using Blender Cycles, I knew I also wanted to approach the model as something that could be game-friendly... so I kept my poly count down while trying to maximize detail through texture work.
