The S.S. Baychimo (NAR-337) is a Federation-registered ship operated by Earth's planetary space authority, the United Earth Space Probe Agency (UESPA). It was built for long-duration deployments in uninhabited systems, and served as a self-sufficient planetary science platform capable of supporting extended missions without Starfleet oversight. More modern and compact than the better-known Daedalus-class, the Pandora-class still retained much of its rugged modular design, which made it a popular choice for scientific and logistical roles across Federation space, including use by the UESPA, private research consortiums, civilian shipping operations, and humanitarian relief missions. The Baychimo was contracted under the UESPA's Planetary Sciences Division for glaciological and cryo-organic research in the remote Naythean system. She vanished in 2299 after entering orbit around Tessil IVb, an ice-shrouded moon deep in the system's outer reaches. No distress call was ever received. Like her 20th-century namesake the Baychimo became a legend, and since her disappearance there have been several unconfirmed sightings of the spacecraft.
This was done as a quick(ish) exercise in designing a TOS-style starship design. I love these spherical ships for some reason, and this definitely won't be the last you see of them from me!
